ABOUT
Dr. Gindi is a Swiss-German sculptor whose work centres on the human figure and ongoing enquiry into infinity within the human existence.
Modelling is at the core of her practise. Through posture, weight, gesture, contour and surface, she gives precise physical form to moments and states of human experience. The body provides the limits within which this enquiry takes place: it has mass, scale, material, presence and boundary.
Under the overarching proposition Modelling the infinity of our Existence, Dr. Gindi asks how a finite human form can make something perceptible that is not exhausted by the particular moment or state it embodies.
Her work has been presented internationally in museums, galleries and art fairs and has received recognition through awards and juried exhibitions in Europe, Asia and North America.
ARITISTIC STATEMENT
Modelling the Infinity of our Existence
1. Human existence takes radically different forms.
2. Human beings pass through states that alter, disappear, and return.
3. Each state is real while it is lived. No single state defines a human being.
4. Contradiction belongs to the range of human existence.
5. Modelling gives manifestation on human existence a specific body and material presence.
6. Sculpture holds in finite form what human existence continually changes.
7. Infinity lies in the continual unfolding forms of human existence.
8. I sculpt the infinite within the finite.
